Endovascular Surgery for Blood Vessel Conditions

Endovascular surgery is an innovative, less invasive procedure. At Tower Health, we use this approach to treat conditions affecting the blood vessels, including swelling or “ballooning” (aneurysm) of the blood vessel.

We use this approach as an alternative to open surgery when appropriate, and patients often experience less pain and a shorter recovery. We offer:

  • Angioplasty
  • Endovascular coiling
  • Embolization
  • Endovascular mechanical thrombectomy
  • Stenting procedures

Phil’s wife knew it was a stroke as soon as she heard the jumbled speech and saw the dropping face. After a minimally-invasive thrombectomy, Phil was fully functioning again—as if nothing happened.

Endoscopic or Minimally Invasive Surgery

Endovascular neurosurgery, called neurointerventional neurosurgery or interventional neuroradiology, is a minimally invasive approach that combines advanced imaging techniques and catheter-based tools to deliver care to the nervous system. This minimally invasive approach often offers means faster recovery times and less stress for your body. Types of endovascular procedures performed at Tower Health include:

  • Microsurgical repair
  • Microsurgical resections
  • Endovascular coiling
  • Carotid endarterectomy
  • Embolization
  • Stenting
  • Intra-arterial thrombolysis
  • Mechanical thrombolysis
  • Stereotactic radiosurgery

Traditional Open Surgery

Some neurovascular procedures need to be done in the traditional, open method of surgery. This allows the surgeon to directly repair the area in a safe, effective method. Open surgery is often used to:

  • Remove skull base tumors
  • Relieve a compressed nerve
  • Repair an aneurysm
